Alhamdulillah, I'm back..!!


Sugar & Vanilla is back in business as usual. Dah few weeks dah balik. Cuma belum all out on blogging, facebook and instagram as I'm busy baking and decorating. Oh and also organizing.


Sugar & Vanilla has changed the email to ili.snv@gmail.com .But worry not, the old email is still in use. It takes time to change completely. Will update the info kat blog ni slowly. So it will take few weeks for me to start updating on new entries as usual.

I'll be away on the dates stated above. I'm continuing my studies in cake decorating. Diploma, InsyaAllah. Really hope I can serve you better cakes and cookies after my short course. Hoping that I can accept trickier designs afterwards. Hee. Wish me luck, dearies.

I think I will have internet connection while I'm there (macam pelik je kalau tak ada untuk zaman sekarang ni. hehe). I will try my best to reply your emails/enquiries as soon as possible, but maybe a bit slower than usual (more than 24 hours). Feel free to ask/discuss anything (related to cakes, cookies of course), however I don't recommend any payment to be made during those dates. As I'm afraid I can't view / handle the order process.

Listed below are the available dates until end of the year. Since some dates are already fully booked after the 25th April, I don't suggest for last minute order. For decorated cakes, a week before is considered as last minute. To avoid disappointment, do make your orders in advance. Waayy in advance for big orders. As stated at "How to Order", any last minute order (5 days before) will be charged extra 20% of the price.

Do Not Accept

 

 

Being a cake decorator doesn't mean I can do all designs as I only started to decorate about 3 years ago. I know some of you had already asked me to do certain designs, and I rejected the order. Simply because I'm afraid of not giving you a great cake. I prefer to be honest and reject the order, rather than I accept and give you an ugly looking cake :p

 

My expertise is not on cake carving, fondant figure that looks exactly like a person, and sugar flowers. Maybe I can just make the simple ones.

 

I am slowly learning to be better. InsyaAllah, will learn more on sugar flowers, will practice more on making fondant figurines and cake carving.

 

 

 

 

However, there are some designs that I can make but I just refuse to. This theme covers almost all the designs which is 'naughty and sexy' theme. I won't make any design base on this theme. I'm really sorry as some had already asked me to do this design. But I had no choice but to reject even if I had the time to do and even if the designs are easy to make. I have already consulted with my family and they too advised me not to accept these kind of orders.

 

Another design that I will reject is any harsh/rude words to be put on the cake. Definitely no swearing. No one has asked me yet. But I've seen cakes on the internet with bad words written on it.

So I'm just going to make it clear before anyone wants to order these kind of words on the cakes.

 

I know it may be a joke and just for the fun of it, but still I won't accept naughty/sexy theme or if the message on the cake has a bad word in it. My apologies for the inconvenience.

I'm still taking custom made orders for cakes, cookies and jellies during Ramadan and Syawal. I'm only taking a break for four days (7th August - 10th August). You can order before and after those dates. Do make you orders and confirmation as soon as possible to book your slot.

Pick Up Date

'Pick up date and time' is NOT the date you want to eat those yummylicious.



Hello dearies :)

Just to inform you on the 'pick up date'.

Some of you ordered the goodies for a specific date and time but later on inform me to change the pick up time earlier or the day before. Reason was that the fixed date in the beginning was actually the date for the party/celebration.

My orders are limited each week. So I already scheduled my preparation time in advance according to the orders. Changing the pick up date and time last minute, will effect the preparation for other orders.

By rushing me last minute, quality will be affected as well.

Even changing the pick up time just 3 hours earlier than the time agreed, do make a huge difference as I don't have any assistant or a lot of heavy duty equipment / machines to finish the cakes/items faster.


Same goes to 'delivery' method.




Sorry if I offended anyone and thank you so much for your cooperation.

Q : Can I have your phone no. so that I can call you ?
A : Of course you can have my phone no. But I just prefer if we discuss about the orders through email / private message at facebook / whatsapp. It's easier for me to refer back on the details later on. And also it's not easy for me to quote the price immediately when you ask through phone calls. I need to check back with the list of prices and all.



Q : Do you do delivery ?
A : Yes, I do now. But only in Klang Valley area. Charges are depending on the locations. You can still pick up at my house if you want to.



Q : I need the cake by this weekend.
A : May I know the exact date and time of pick up. I need to know by when the desserts need to be ready for you to pick up. The date and time for you to eat/use the goodies and different than the date and time for the pick up. And I only need to know the exact date for you to come to my house.



Q : Why don't you sell red velvet at bazaar ?
A : Red velvet goes so well with cream cheese. And cream cheese is a big NO NO for our hot weather / humidity. It can only last 3 hours outside the refrigerator. I'm just afraid it will upset your tummy. Especially most bazaars that I joined were just so hot. This same goes to fresh cream. Big NO NO.



Q : How many kilograms is the cake ?
A : I don't go by kilograms, but I go by inches. Since most of my cakes are decorated, more important for me is to know the size of the cake instead of the weigh. For, example - A cake for a hantaran is measured by the size of the cake so that it can fit perfectly on the dulang hantaran.



Q : Can I order a full fondant red velvet cake ?
A : It is not advisable for a red velvet cake to be decorated with fondant. Or even heavy decoration of buttercream as the cake is very moist. It might not hold up the decorations. Same goes to moist chocolate cake.



Q : When should I make the final confirmation ?
A : As soon as possible, please. Do make your payment within the time frame given, otherwise I'll let go your slot to other people. I'm working alone on this so the orders that I can accept is limited. But of course, after the expiry time for payment, usually I'll check back with you. With valid reasons, I don't mind the late payment. But do update me by email / sms.



Q : I've already made the payment. Please check your bank account.
A : But I need the proof of payment with details. Different bank, different time for the payment to transfer to my account. Even if I check, the payment might not be transferred yet. So I really need the proof of payment otherwise the order is cancel.



Q : What time can I pick up the desserts ?
A : From 7 am to 9 pm only. I'm still living with my parents. So I prefer if you can pick up the goodies before 9 pm. It's a way of me respecting them. Maybe if one day I live in my own house, I totally don't mind for you to come at 12 am to pick up the goodies. Or lets just pray that I will soon have my own shop. Heeeee.



Q : "I'm already in front of your house."
A : "Hold on, I need to wear my hijab first." If you can let me know that you're coming in another 10 minutes, that would be great. At least I have the time to wear my jubbah and hijab. But it's not a big deal if you just show up at my house, it's just that I'll feel guilty that you have to wait 3 minutes for me to get ready.



Q : Do you do advertising ?
A : Say whaaat? I'm not famous. I think I'm the one who needs to pay to advertise my cakes. But I'm flattered that few of you already asked me this. I just feel that I'm not there yet. Maybe one day or maybe never.



Q : Kakak or adik ?
A : I know I may look older than my age (so sad). But I'll be 24 this year (2013). So if you were not sure to call me kakak or adik, now you know.

Awesome 2012

 2012 had been wonderful for me. Too many happy things happened during the year.

 And I just can't stop staying Alhamdulillah. 

1. Diploma in Patisserie. I graduated from a Pastry Art academy. I learnt every type of pastries. From bread to sugar showpiece. And Alhamdulillah, even after I learnt all that, I discovered my true passion and got to explore more towards cake decorating.

2. First expo. I joined the wedding expo held at The Mall, KL. Got a bit of a downside when I opened a booth there. But I took it as a lesson. And hoping my second one will be better and soon :)

3. First bazaar. My first bazaar wasn't going as well as I thought it would be. But I tried other bazaars from different organizers, different places. Some were ok. Some were fun. And met many wonderful people. Thanking each and everyone of you who came at my booth at any bazaar. Thank you so much..!!

4. Wedding cake. My brother got married to my lovely sister in law. Made them a hantaran cake, cookies for doorgift, and wedding cake. Made the wedding cake using 9 cakes in just 3 days. So proud of myself and loving the hectic moment.

5. Facebook page. I started this business 3 years ago, but didn't really go all out on the marketing as I was still studying. After my brother's wedding, I immediately made a facebook page for Sugar & Vanilla and now, the page almost hit 500 likes. Alhamdulillah.

6. Famous blogger. Got a chance to sponsor doorgift cookies for a very famous blogger and successful businesswoman/fashion stylist, Jezmine Zaidan. I really adore her..! Sponsored the hijab decorated cookies at her new opening boutique, Girls in Hijab by The Old Blossom Box Store.

7. Safiyya. I got to be on television...!!! Still excited about it. Never had I imagined that I would get a chance to be featured in one of the best Muslimah tv show. And all this just happened with a blink of an eye.

All stated above are some of the things that I'm thankful for during 2012. If I would have list the little details, one entry won't be enough.

The best part is, I have these wonderful people around me who never stop supporting me. My Abah and Mama, my sister KakTen, my brother Ngah and his wife KakJiha. My other half / one and only Abdul Rahman. My cousin / almost sisters Izzah Fathi. My bestestfriend Eireen Camelia. My huge family, beloved uncles, aunties and cousins. They mean sooo much to me. I love them and can't thank them enough for the support and guidance they gave me.

I'm not where I am today if it's not for them. Alhamdulillah.

What I wish for 2013 is BETTER. Better than before in every way. To be a better Muslimah, daughter. To be a better cake decorator and businesswoman. To be better in everything. InsyaAllah.

Love For Gaza

 

 

Alhamdulillah. Everything went well last Sunday at the

'Love for Gaza' Charity Bazaar by Nurul WonderWardrobe.

I was happy to be part of this charity and met wondeful people.

 

I'm hoping that everyone had done a little bit of their part to help and save Gaza.

To give them freedom that they deserve.

Safiyya TV9

 

On 9th December 2012, I was on Safiyya at TV9. My very first time to be aired on television...!!! I screamed. Out loud. And a lot. Hehehe.

 

My segment was in 'blog'. Manisan Agar-Agar Jeli Oh Jeli (Sungguh comel tajuk diberikan).

 

So who watched it ? And who noticed that I was very very nervous ? :P
