Floral Ruffles

This is a dummy cake. Styrofoam inside.

I made this cake to enter a cake decorating competition under Kuali, My Star.
For the first round, we had to make our own cake and send a picture to them. Or many pictures.
I sent a few of my cakes that I did before. Including this 'Floral Ruffles' cake as well.

But sadly, none of my cakes got chosen to be in the final round (a live competition).
Uwaaaa. Yes yes very sad.
Buuutttt, on the positive side, this is only the beginning. It was my first time anyway. There's more to come. I need to brush up my skills. Go here and there to learn, explore more and more.
I'm sure there will be other competitions. Even if I only get to win in ten years time, the point is not to give up at all :)

Bright Sunny Day

My very first striking color cake.
Not a big fan of yellow.
But somehow for this design, yellow seems to suit perfectly.

Rose Tower

The edible sugar roses and fake roses.
I think you can tell which is which.
Wish the cupcakes were more.
As well as the roses.
Anyway, this is what I did for my expo.
A lot of people were asking about this tower.
Not bad I guess. Hee.

Sorry I don't have good pictures for this.
I only assembled the tower there.
Totally forgot to assemble at my house first for photography purpose. Erk.

Hijabers Cookies

My image.

Hijab is my choice.

Hijab covers my head. Not my mind.

I am proud of my Muslimah identity.

Hijab protects me in so many ways.

My hijab is my modesty.

Hijab makes you more beautiful. Inside and out.

We are the sisters of Islam.

These cookies are inspired by all the hijabers out there. Who are brave and proud of their identity.

And this entry is inspired by an online shop, Owhsomuslim. I salute them in their intention of da'wah through art and designs. Totally cute. In love with their cards on a guide to proper hijab for ladies.

Btw, I'm just trying out the 'colour blocking'.
I don't really dress up in too many colours
like the cookies I made. ;P

Bridesmaids Dress

I think it has been a long time since I did the dress cookies.

I prefer the 3D effect on the dress like the bottom one.
Looks more like a......dress  -_-

Mini 'Wedding Cake' Cookies

Stacked cookies.
Many people were amazed how the cookies can be stacked like these.
Good for decoration at the 'Meja makan beradab pengantin'.
And after eating, each can bring home one stacked.

Brown, Gold and Cream

Hantaran cookies.
Again, these were the cookies I displayed at expo.

Why cookies now are the new thing to make as a hantaran instead of a cake or cupcakes ?
I'll tell you why.
Because cookies are dry and individually wrapped. Instead of cupcakes or cakes that use buttercream, very messy if you accidentally touch it.
And also they are very convenient to bring here and there. Let say if you have to travel far and bring the hantaran things. Wouldn't it be easier to bring something dry and small. Same goes for a long distance that you have to travel by air. Just put in paper bag and you're good to go.

But then again, it all depends of what you like. As for me, I would still prefer a cake for a hantaran. Only if I have to travel long distance, cookies are a better choice.

The example of cookies as a hantaran.
Sorry for the bad pictures.
